The B-29A was employed as a long-range heavy bomber to bomb the Japanese mainland from distant bases in China and the Pacific islands. The B-29A was the first aircraft to deliver an atomic bomb in 1945 and served well into the 1950’s for both the United States Army Air Force and the United States Air Force.
This kit represents the early B-29A as first deployed in early 1944 that operated from bases in the Central Pacific and China. This new kit features early camouflage paint markings representing two early B-29A units the most famous of which made a forced landing in Soviet territory. This airplane was disassembled and copied by Soviet authorities and became the Soviet TU-4.
